Hi and welcome to the course! I’m Luke Magnay and I’m really excited to be here on your Family Enrichment Hub online video creation journey! I had a lot of fun putting this together and it is my wish that you have just as much fun learning and doing it if not moreso!

I’ve purposely kept this course short, to the point and loaded with my personality and wisdom. With that in mind – bloopers are fine! I’ve kept them in to show you that they’re totally natural and that we all do it so if that was an “invisible barrier” to your filming then let’s collapse that now shall we?

A bit about me, I have two lovely kids with the fabulous Julia, the founder of The Family Enrichment Hub, and I’ve been in the business video production business since 2018. I love what I do and particularly enjoy training people like you on all thing video.

Let's take "Lights, Camera, Action!" literally here and start with possibly the most important component of video and that is good lighting!

The Importance of Eye Contact
You wouldn't talk to someone and stare intently at their chin or ear would you? Or at least I'd hope not. This tiny thing to keep in mind when filming will make such a dramatic difference to your videos.

Camera stuff
Let's take a look at what we're working with here, shall we?

Sound
If there's anything that'll ruin a video it's poor sound quality. We've all seen them, videos where the talent is so far away from the camera that it's like we're in another room. Let's fix that!!

If you have a laptop or tablet you'll likely gave an in-built webcam. The problem is, it simply might not be good enough quality for anything more than a Zoom call!

Mixing Webcam and PowerPoints
If you're looking to use PowerPoints during your video and you're on a webcam setup then this module is for you. If you're only using a camera you'll need to add your slides in your editing software.
